PEGGY FIELDING'S
NEWSLETTER IT'S ME AGAIN Oh, yes, here she is; the old babe. Go to the archives and read the letter there so you won't miss any color or doodads. That's www.peggyfielding.com WHAT ROMNEY DID The Rev. Romney Nesbitt, as I told you, put my portrait above my fireplace. The portrait is an artistic masterpiece, I think. It's still hanging in my living room. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL ROM HAS DONE FOR ME
ROM DID ANOTHER GOOD THING YEARS AGO She and Stoner had another son who is artistic in another field. He took after his Mom and is an artist of note. Last week he sold two of his paintings for $500 each. Huzzah! STILL NOT ALL
That Rom is a mother, a preacher, an artist, a creativity coach, a teacher, and now a writer. Her book can be ordered from any bookstore or from Amazon.com. Jackie and I have another Foxy Hen book coming out soon. I hope I can tell all next month. The book is called The Foxy Hens Go Bump in the Night. MY PAST HAS RISEN TO SURPRISE ME IN TWO DIFFERENT WAYS First, I've recently had telephone calls and notes from Bob Inman, who was in my brother Jack's class when we were in school at Oilton, Oklahoma. Bob hss seemed very interested in my writing career. When he said "we" just want to know more than once I asked "Who is this 'we' you always talk about?" It seems Bobby is in touch with a passle of former Oilton High School grads. I thought all who knew me at school back in medieval times, would add up to 3 or possibly 4 people. Seems I'm wrong. There must be a lot of us old Oilton crocks kicking around. Good to know. Bob, send me your photograph, please. We'll run it next month right here. Bob lives in Greenville, Texas. OTHER PHOTOGRAPHS NEEDED Send your photographs, Gloria Shirley and Carol Snow. (I'd love it Carol if you'd send a picture in character as "Aunt Eller.") NOW ANOTHER VOICE FROM MY PAST REMINDED ME THAT I HAVE PLENTY TO WHINE ABOUT AND HERE IS WHERE I AM GOING TO DO IT Marco de Vera, one of my students from the Ship Repair Facility in the Philippines called. He has been faithful over all these years, to come and see me or call me or write to me. When we were in class together, I was in my early thirties and Marco was nineteen, He was an apprentice enrolled in my Industrial English classes. One day I brought in magazines from home to hand out to the boys in my class to give them some practice reading English other than textbooks, which seem too much like work. Marco handed me the magazine I gave him. On one page he had written , "I love you." Wow. I suppose if that sort of thing has happened in this day and age I would be marching off to prison ... teacher/student gone awry stuff. Well, it seemed Marco was sincere. He begged me for several years to divorce old Ray Fielding and marry him! Eventually he was working in Ray's shop and still asking me the question. I was so crazy about Ray that I would never have even contemplated such a thing. Now you have to understand (This is where the whining comes in) I had never been loved by a man, not by either of my husbands nor by any of the other men I thought I loved. Ray left no doubt as to his lack of love when, on our wedding evening, in a car headed for a dance, he told me he wanted to make love to one of my friends, an attendant at our wedding. But maybe Marco was really telling the truth in his youth. He has been keeping in touch with me all these years. I helped him get to the USA. He now lives in California. When he calls he talks for hours. Of course, he has had several wives in the meantime, as well, and who knows how many girlfriends and it has been a mighty long time since he asked me THE QUESTION. RECENTLY READ I am trying to become a Jaci Burton fan. She is a member of RWI here in Tulsa. I'm also in that romance group so I sometimes get to stare at her with awe. Her new release this month is Riding Temptation from Berkley Heat. She is a writing machine, does at least a dozen romance series. Wow!
NOW FOR MY IMAGINARY LOVELIFE Several weeks ago I saw The Unit on TV. Hurrah! Maybe that means that my beloved show is not entirely dead ... and the lovely Sgt. is not just reduced to selling insurance, although I would like to be in his "good hands." I did ask at the viola recital reception at the church, "Do you think it's legitimate for an 80 year old woman to fall desperately in love with a twenty year old man?" The table of people I asked that were complete strangers and they were stunned and insulted by my crass question. I think they were mostly close to my age, but who can tell?. Dash wasn't upset by my declaration, his mama told me and she laughed a lot. She thinks I'm amusing but those other old babes gave me the EYE.( The drop dead eye.) SPEAKING OF EYES, I'M SEEING THINGS Not imaginary things...real things. Apparently the cataract removal worked and the black eye has cleared up and now I can see with my right eye. Hallelujah! AND I WILL SEE YOU ALL NEXT MONTH Really see you, friends, if you come anywhere near me. It's wonderful. LOVE Peggy Lou | ||
