ON TIME

Here I am again and on time, since October isn't over yet. Hurrah! Hello to one and all. My Brookside based pal, Virginia Anderson Torres, says she looks forward to reading my letters each month since we don't see each other all that often. I don't know how she does it but she gets these missives on a TV set. She has no computer. Of course she has a husband, Ben, who knows something about how to do that kind of magic electronic thing, one supposes. Nice to have a smart man around the house.

RECOMMENDATION

I've just finished reading HIS LORDSHIP'S HOLIDAY SURPRISE by Kate Huntington, published by Zebra. I bought it for Angela Hoy, owner of Booklocker.com, but I made the mistake of picking up the book and glancing at the first page. I was caught! Now I've finished the book and I'm in a Christmas mood and it's not yet Halloween. I just loved that particular Regency romance and I hope Angela will as well. Such a good book! Read it if you get the chance, my friends.

CONTEST WINNERS

Only three people sent in UFO organization names and addresses and all three now have their very own copies of BARBARA; The Story of a UFO Investigator. These were review copies but quite readable, nevertheless. Winners were Annette Taylor of Albion, Illinois, Mary Alexander of Nowata, Oklahoma and Brenda Rumsey of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thanks to these three readers for entering.

I haven't heard from the others but Mary Alexander has let me know that she read the book and was thrilled with Barbara's story. We discussed whether she and I had ever been "taken up."

Other readers who wish to receive the corrected version of BARBARA need only click onto http://www.awoc.com/ufo to order their very own correctly edited copies for only $13.95.

NEW CONTEST

Those of you who can guess why October is a favorite month of mine and Halloween a favorite holiday, may win themselves review copies of BARBARA. If you send in an entry with the correct answer would you please enclose your US Mail address as well so I can mail your book to you right away. Good luck.

NOVELLAS

An editor at Random House has asked to see CHIK LIT FOR FOXY HENS and I mailed the book to her post-haste (actually "Priority Mail."). Paula Alfred, Sharon Ervin, Nancy Huff and Jacqueline King and I are all thrilled that the editor wants to see our book. My section of the book is called "Giving Up Pantyhose." Hope that title sets the New York lady right back on her heels with joy. If you want to know some secrets or maybe not secrets but the history of why and how I came to Tulsa and some of the things that happened to me here you might want to read that little novella. Of course it is time compressed and moved into the present day world. Isn't it good that fiction allows us to rebuild anything we want to write about and no harm done?

RALLY 'ROUND FOR NOVEMBER

I've invited my sister-in-law to meet me for a restaurant prepared turkey and fixing dinner, half way between Tulsa, Oklahoma where I live and Commerce, Texas where she lives. No cooking. No cleaning. My kind of holiday.

And also, Chuck Sasser and I are going to visit bits of our geographical past to speak and sign books in November. We are planning to go to Olive and Drumright and Oilton. What fun that will be. Chuck is a real nice guy to be around. He likes women and doesn't feel superior to the female half of the population. Pleasant to work beside the man. "He'll do to ride the river with," as Dusty Richards sometimes says.

See you back here in November. You may wish to join Betty and me at the restaurant in MacAlester, Oklahoma. That might be fun.
