VOLUME 2, NUMBER 1, JANUARY 2002 A STADIUM KIND OF LOVE More than 20 subscribers emailed or telephoned with comments about the free novel. All the comments were complimentary, even the spoken comment from my friend, Doris Wheelus, which was in a certain way, I think, complimentary. "I wanted it to be longer," is what Doris said. So far as bad reviews were concerned, well, there were none. Yay! thanks subscribers. Or was it just that only 20 of you bothered to read the book? Anyway I hope you liked STADIUM even if most of you didn't send in your critiques. NEW STUFF Now, we've had a free novel, and a guessing contest about my books, we need something new. How about a Poetry Rumble? Before next month, write a poem dealing with writers or writing in some way and we'll run the best, the winning verse, in our February newsletter. I'll be the judge but I reserve the right to consult with a professional poet whom I know. Send as many poems as you wish. And no, they don't have to rhyme. Be sure to include your name and address with each poem you submit when you email it to me at peggy@peggyfielding.com or through the US Mail at Box 50347, Tulsa, OK 74150. Limit your poem to 18 lines, or fewer, if possible.
LOOKING TOWARD HEAVEN The photograph here is the last one taken of Ms Hazel (my Mom) and me. It was snapped about two months before she danced her way up toward Heaven. She looks a little like an angel, don't you think? 96 years old and pretty as a picture. January is her birth month. I just wish she had made it to 97. BOOKS I LOVED THIS MONTH BEAR MOUNTAIN and A FINE BALANCE...such good books. I lived in them and as each one wound down I did not want to read the last paragraph because that would mean I had to look up and find myself back home in Tulsa. SEE YOU AT THE POETRY RUMBLE IN FEBRUARY, MY FRIENDS | ||
