MEA CULPA

Before I go on to other friends, let me apologize to Gloria Harchar. I misspelled her name in last month’s newsletter and even though I mentioned her wonderful new enovel, THE PRIM COURTESAN, I neglected to tell you that you can order her book from Hard Shell Word Factory at http://www.hardshell.com. Gloria was rightfully thrilled that THE PRIM COURTESAN received a perfect *10* from the reviewer at Romance Reviews Today. You can reach that publication at www.romrevtoday.com.

SALLY

My own enovel SALLY, is coming out in July from Hard Shell, if the Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise. It has scenes of love and plenty of sex, but it’s not a "romance" per se, since it is based on what is known about Sally Hemmings and Thomas Jefferson. Based on truth, yes, but I had to use my imagination in every scene. It’s told from Sally’s point-of-view, but really, with eight kids and no marriage certificate, SALLY just doesn’t qualify as a respectable "historical romance" novel.

Anyway, you can order it now I suppose, from Hard Shell http://www.hardshell.com if you’re curious about our forefather’s relationship with his young slave. Sally came to Monticello as an infant, part of the wedding dowry brought by Jefferson’s white wife when they married. The white Mrs. Jefferson’s father was also Sally’s father. Sally’s mother was a slave, Betsy Hemmings, who also came to Monticello with Sally and several other slaves as part of the wedding settlement between the neighboring families. Go ahead and order now if you wish, even though the ebook won’t be out until July.

ADVERTISING REQUIRES ELECTRONIC KNOWLEDGE

I’m advertising SALLY in the November issue of Romantic Times Magazine, with a lot of help from Jackie Bielowicz. (See last month’s newsletter for more about Jackie.) You can’t imagine the contortions I’ve had to go through to get that little ad into the magazine and the electronic twisting isn’t over yet.

All worth it, I’m sure. I’ve learned a ton of electronic stuff. Surely you know what happens if you don’t advertise, don’t you? Nothing, of course.

And now for the friends.

NEWS ABOUT OUR BOOK, THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO WRITING AND SELLING MAGAZINE ARTICLES

You can get the ebook from Booklocker. You can also buy bound print copies of the book now.. Hey, hey, now all us dinosaurs can read this book in the form we love so well. Great news, I think.

NONFICTION BOOKS

The next project that I will be working on will be a nonfiction book for writers called CONFESSING FOR MONEY.

And that reminds me. None of my nonfiction books are listed on the book page on my website but they are still available. Check out these two, THE SALESMANAGERS FACTOMATIC and THE TELEMARKETING MANAGERS FACTOMATIC. They are both references for business people which are available from Pearson Education, 240 Frisch Court, Paramus, NJ 07652. Call 1-800-766-8491 for more information about the books. They’d make great fathers’ day presents or mothers’ day gifts as well. Contact me by email or US post office. PO Box 50347, Tulsa, OK 74150 and I will be glad to send you a flyer detailing what the books are about and where to order them, etc. They are awfully expensive, but worth it, I’ve been told. 60 dollars a pop, I’m afraid.

THE SALESMANAGERS FACTOMATIC is also available as a CD rom from Comptons New Media.

Oh, yes, and then there is BARBARA. Hum some eerie music here, please! This is the biography of an Oklahoma woman who has made UFO investigations her life work. She’s a fascinating, as well as a beautiful creature. Get her true story, BARBARA: THE STORY OF A UFO INVESTIGATOR from http://www.AWOCBooks.com
